On May 9, Nicole Latulippe and Lisa Blenkinsop returned to Nipissing First Nation to present their FishWIKS research to community members. NFN Chief Scott McLeod also gave a presentation and Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day provided analysis and commentary. Nicole and Lisa’s visit was covered by the Nipissing First Nation newsletter, Enkamgak and by Anishinabek News.
Nicole presented,“‘The Way We Belong to the Lake’: Renewing relationships at Lake Nipissing”, which drew on her PhD research examining the multiple relationships involved in the Lake Nipissing fishing industry and how to further the community’s ability to govern their fishery. Lisa presented, “Generational Perspectives on Community Knowledge in Nipissing First Nation”, which explored the meaning and importance of Indigenous Knowledge and Fisheries Knowledge to youth and elders within the Nipissing First Nation.
